Alaska Airlines from Norfolk International Airport to Wichita

Okay folks, buckle up! Today we are venturing on a trip from good 'ol Norfolk International Airport to Wichita, Kansas. You read it right, Wichita – the 'Air Capital of The World'. Scoff if you must, but isn’t it magical to see airplanes in the sky, gracefully defying gravity? Well, that's what we'll be doing...but on Alaska.

Now, we all know how airlines love to play Tetris with our travel plans. "Connecting flights here, layover there – observe how we pinch the joy out of your travels!" The good news for us though, my fellow jet setter, is that we are flying on Alaska, the stereotypical cool kid of American airlines. While taking a detour isn't my favourite way to travel, the good folks at Alaska seem to have figured out how to make layovers bearable. For them, it's not about hustling from gate A-dangerously-far-away to gate Z-right-on-the-other-side-of-the-airport-it-seems, no no. They've mastered the art of getting us to our next flight with no panic and no sweat - figuratively speaking of course. Who's to control the HVAC system?

Flying one-way? Round-trip? On a quest to find the meaning of life across the country? Alaska got you covered. Regardless of your travel plans, they are committed to ensuring you reach your destination. Heck, they might even throw in some moose jerky or show you a slideshow of beautiful Alaskan landscapes to set the mood. Did you know that Alaska has a longer coastline than all the other U.S. states combined?

But wait! Are you a 'frequent flyer' who's constantly bouncing back and forth between places? ‘Bingo’, says Alaska. Their mileage program is tried, tested, and praised by many wanderlusting souls. You might just find yourself jingling with 'I've flown so much, and all I got are these stinking miles’ badges.

Of course, a significant part of flying involves disabling that wallet pain called ‘airfare’. But fear not! Alaska, the Mother Teresa of airlines, is ever so generous. They offer frequent flight deals, cheap flights, and my personal favorite - last-minute flights. You know, for when the spirit of spontaneity grabs hold, or when you forget to tell your boss you need to fly for cousin Josh's wedding the next day.

As for the dreaded packing bit, ‘baggage allowance’ seems more like a swear word to frequent flyers. With Alaska, I’ve heard (from plenty of fellow 'cargo-crammers’), the baggage allowance is surprisingly painless. It is almost as if they actually understand the importance of your fifteen pairs of shoes, beloved fur coat, and climbing gear.

Alaska's in-flight services are nothing short of top-notch either. They've got the modern traveller in mind, they do. You know, the kind that needs to stay connected, entertained, caffeinated and content throughout the journey. Let's just say, your flight duration is about to fly by just as quickly as you are.

And, let me not forget, their flight cancellation policy is as comforting as the thought of landing in Wichita on-time, without the need for that red-eye flight. God save us from those!.
